Growers, plant propagators and global technology experts all took part in an ambitious Open House event hosted by Plantanova at its recently-renovated facility in Tuxpan, Michoacán on March 21, 2025.

Here Pharis explains the significance of the Open House and why it stood out as being different from other events in the past.
What was the idea behind the Open House?
Pharis Rico (PR): In Mexico, we have a saying, “Mi Casa es tu Casa.” When you have a friendship or relationship that matters to you, you open your house or “casa,” and that is what we did with the Open House: we opened our house to companies and professionals from across the world specializing in technologies for the Mexican horticultural industry.
Maybe for the first time, the Open House featured representatives – and in some cases even owners – of companies helping Plantanova revolutionize its business acting as co-hosts. More than simply showcasing a piece of machinery, we sought to explain the reason behind its installation in a Mexican setting.
Why were you keen to get other companies involved?
PR: When we started on this journey, we realized it made sense to share technology with not just competitors, but also with producers who are producing their own plants. By working together, we can raise the bar for the industry in Mexico as a whole, and protect ourselves against unprofessional companies using cheap, low-quality materials.
What were the key takeaways from the Open House?
PR: At the Open House, we explained how using the right technology benefits our clients and why this kind of machinery can be helpful for their businesses (should they install it themselves).
